Meet Whitney
I grew up in a small country town, the corn capital, Olivia, MN. I graduated from BOLD high-school in 2007 and attended my senior year at Ridgewater College. My original plan was to become a social worker, but I quickly realized that was not the path for me. I’ve always loved art. My most beloved possession as a child was my art kit that included markers, pencils, and watercolors! (You know the ones.) I started dabbling in photography and took a couple courses at Ridgewater, before offering professional services. I did senior portraits, family sessions, and pet photography. I started suffering from imposter syndrome and slowly stopped taking clients. I continued taking photos as a hobby and now I really enjoy doing nature photography. My photography is currently available for purchase in my Redbubble Shop.
In 2022 I made the decision to go back to school, after having some health issues. I wanted to stay in the creative world and decided on studying Multimedia Design at Ridgewater. Little did I know, this would turn out being the hardest two years of my life. I underwent two completely different surgeries, one of which, I’m still trying to recover from. During my first semester, my mom unfortunately went into the hospital. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and passed just weeks later. It’s been extremely difficult. There’s nothing that can prepare you for losing your parents. You never stop needing them.
I continued my studies in school and stayed on track for graduation. I even managed to make the Dean’s List a couple semesters. I learned design concepts, color theory, and typography. I also became more proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. During my studies I found a passion for creating logos and then moved more into branding and web design.
Now, spring of 2024, I am finally going to finish my college degree, and receive my AAS in Multimedia Design Technology.
I am currently only doing freelance work. If you are interested in discussing a project please reach out. I would absolutely love, I mean LOVE, to work with you!
